Request for Proposal – Valentine Road Apartments Public Art Project

Request for Proposal – Valentine Road Apartments Public Art Project Ventura Housing, formerly known as the Housing Authority of the City of San Buenaventura, is transforming the former La Quinta Inn into a comprehensive permanent housing community at 5818 Valentine Road. The adaptive reuse project will create 134 affordable apartments and 2 manager apartments, serving households experiencing or at risk of homelessness in the City of Ventura. 71 Apartments are designated for homeless and chronically homeless households, while 63 serve those at risk of homelessness.

As a priority of Ventura Housing’s commitment to include public art in their housing development projects, they are seeking proposals for public art by Ventura County artist or artist teams. It is a primary goal of the project to inspire and uplift the lives of the residents living at Valentine Road. Art has always been a powerful medium for expressing emotions, telling stories, and bringing people together. When integrated into community initiatives, especially those focused on aiding the homeless, art transforms into a tool for empowerment and change. It allows individuals to connect, communicate, and collaborate in meaningful ways that transcend socio-economic barriers.
